Re: at a disheartening loss for words
I don't know what is happening to you but since this is disturbing your emotional peace, isn't it worth it to get a stool test?
While a stool test won't be so useful for uncovering demons ; ) it should be very useful for finding parasites, candida and other imbalances.
I did that when I thought I had a candida problem. It turned out that I did not but I had other imbalances that I worked to correct with probiotics and diet.
You might look up herxheimer reaction--die off.
Might you be sensitive to high thiol/sulfur foods? More on that here. compare the list of foods you ate during your "diet" with the list here.

High thiol foods contain cysteine and similar amino acids. These have the thiol/SH group as seen here.

Heavy metals are attracted to the thiol groups. This mobilizes (kicks up) the heavy metals, but if not done in a thoughtful, well planned way, can create a storm of heavy metal movement in your body. Your body will remove some of them but some will end up in parts of the body that are more vulnerable to it, including your brain (central nervous system), liver, adrenals.
I've come across a few people who reported your symptoms in the heavy metal groups. They were very, very sick people, physically and emotionally. This is expected since the brain is very sensitive to heavy metals.
You may want to take some extra vitamin C and E, maybe selenium (antioxidants).
I would not be hesitant to use a little of the Xanax when needed. However you might also do well with supplements that help to make natural calming brain and body chemicals--magnesium, GABA, glutamine, B6,
Epsom Salt (Mg sulfate), Mg glycinate, maybe taurine, etc.
Be very careful. You need a healthy mind to work with your doctor and figure out what is going on.
