It doesn't really matter what a person is suffering from, if friends and family are not able to offer any compassion to that person suffering, then they are not true friends and IMO are not good to be exposed to while you are trying to heal.

Thankfully i'm totally removed from such people, in another country!
Do yourself a favour and reduce all stressors in your life, including people. Obviously you need to have a frank conversation about what you are dealing with and if they still don't 'get it' then you have to limit exposure to those kind of people.
I know it's hard, especially with family members...but blood isn't thicker than water and you're more than likely to find more support from a complete stranger on the internet suffering with the same condition as yourself than from a family member who has no idea about the condition and isn't interested in knowing.

Don't forget...there's lots of support here so you're never alone :-)
