This sounds strongly like you are on benzos or Z drugs...(valium, Ativan, Xanax, Clonazapem, Ambien, Zopliclone, Zopidiem, etc).

I suffer from this massively since coming off benzos ten months ago. (three month stint) If i sleep well I have a terrible anxiety the next day, if I dont sleep, I have a calmer day, and the organic 'fear' that is a benzo withdrawal syndrome through and through.

If you are on these drugs you will find that you have probably hit whats called tolerance and need to updose to maintain homeostatis, however I urge you, if you are on them, to come off them, slowly and research benzo withdrawals and build a tiration schedule to come off them. They will DESTROY your life. Im not a curezone purist regarding pharma meds, I actually think some of them do good, but this is one class that has no good uses other for one time applications.

SSRI's actually level this out pretty well for me and something ive just started to aid the PAWS (protracted acute withdrawal syndrome) but everyone reacts in different ways to meds. Once the gaba/glutamate damage has been done with the benzos, nothing but time will heal, and it takes a LONG time.

As PP says, can also happen with supplements that mess around with neurotransmitters such as ashawaganda, holy basil, 5htp, gaba etc.. Tweet
