The whole point is that we need to be more open minded about new things and unfamiliar things.

If the medical profession had embraced the use of electricity back in the 1750's and through the years, many lives would have been saved even though they did not understand the reasons why. With all the progress that might be possible, the Tricoder might just be a reality today.

A little skepticism can be good, but do not scoff, investigate thoroughly.
