From your description I would think this doctor would be ...suspect. The very FIRST thing one must look for in a medical facility is cleanliness! This place sounds horrifying. It reminds me of an eye doctor I once visited in a small neighboring town. His 'office' was in a little old house. It was barely furnished in old decrepit furniture. His 'receptionist' had a make-shift 'desk' where she haphazardly attended to 'checking me in' and taking my payment. The 'doctor' sat me in an old examining chair (after he showed me to the kitchen where I was to remove my contact lenses after washing my hands in dishwashing liquid.) He did NOT wash his hands before 'examining' my eyes and every time he extended his hands to 'examine' my eyes, I flinched. It was horrible. The receptionist also lost my check (finally it was found amongst some folders) when I returned to pick up my contact lenses. Before it was found, with me insisting and proving with my receipt that I had paid on the first visit, they tried to charge me again. I really felt that this 'doctor' had been disbarred (or whatever they do to take away a doctor's license) and he was in this hole in the wall , 'off the grid', treating unsuspecting patients. I had gone to him as I was told they would be able to provide a copy of my prescription, which at the time, other offices did not provide. I sometimes drive by that 'office' on my way to a worksite (I now do some consulting in that town.) and I am creeped out all over again each time. It was shady, to say the least. Hopefully you did not pick up any new 'bugs' from your experience. A visit there sounds almost as bad as having parasites. Just in time for Halloween, BTW.
