That's a very general and ambiguous statement.  Do you think that the Paulings with their wealth of knowledge of health would ignore their other vitamin intake?  Liunus himself lived to 93 but also died of cancer - of the prostate.

Show us how vitamin C in any quantity above the recommended daily amounts prevents or cures cancer.
