Re: radioactive iodine injection for hyperthyroid

You can find out easily: try it and see if it perks you up. If it does, than yes, you need extra. If it doesn't: you're probably fine.

Tyrosine is in all food sources that contain protein: cottage cheese, meat, eggs, ...
I used to eat very little protein. When I started eating cottage cheese, I could feel an energy boost every time I ate a spoonful. So yes, I was deficient in amino acids big time. Probably also in tyrosine.

An other way of looking at this is: change your diet so that your body gets everything it could possibly need. Then, sit back and let your body figure out what to send where in what amount. Body knows best.

You should be aware though, that there are people that don't digest their food well because their stomach acid isn't strong enough. Unfortunately, if you're Iodine deficient you're in the risk group for this: Iodine is needed to make the stomach acidic (as are a lot of other nutrients). In this case, whatever you eat is not getting to it's destination.

Look up the symptoms for low stomach acidity to find out. Or have yourself tested.
