Re: I'm now OUT, and frequently looked upon like an alien
12 years in the satellite sales and service business with my ex, a professional tv watcher was wayyyyyy to much tv for me!!!!!
We divorced 7 yrs ago and I've not spent as much time in 7 yrs "watching" tv as I did in any one month of married life. As we were splitting things, he was trying to leave the 27" tv we had in the bedroom with me ... ??? ... FOR WHAT???
Growing up in the 50s and 60s, our family did watch the good stuff, but the tv didn't have to be on cuz we were home. We listened to the radio and the record player. We played games, cards, etc as a family. Those were the good times! My brother and I actually had to be called to come in the house because it was getting dark, neat concept, kids that play outside!!!
Today, there are 3 tvs in this house, nary a one of them any "my rooms." Do I ever watch tv? Daughter that lives here came up with dvds of the show 24, no commercials!!!!! If you haven't seen it, most of you would probably like it ... I've studied what I term international conspiracy theories all my adult life. This show makes you see how this stuff works and I AM enjoying it. I won't be watching the 1 hour shows when we're caught up, I won't be be watching the brain washing commercials!!!! I'll have to wait until season 6 is available on dvd.
One of the truisms in Kevin Trudeau's book: the large majority of todays commercials are Big Farm or Big Pharma! I'm not into either!!!
