Re: Fenbendazole dosage

Research is a must if one is considering self treatment specially when it comes to drugs not prescribed for humans. Unfortunately Fenbendazole seems to be more experimental and I'm not finding straight forward information.

2500mg divided by 6 is around 416mg. That is quite a low dose when compared to the amount suggested for dogs.

From a comment on amazon.com on the safe guard goat dewormer.

"The dosage for goats is only 2.3 mg per pound as opposed to 20 mg per pound for dogs. This is because goats and dogs are different species, have different physiologies, digestive tracts and metabolisms and also because different worms are being targeted in each (you can call Safeguard customer service and they will confirm this as will any veterinarian)."

If the average weight for man (male) is around 191lb then one is to take 3820mg per day on the dog dosage or 439.3 on the goat.
It's hard to know which is best and safest for for humans. I did find something on pubmed that mentions dosage on humans. "doses of 1-0 g and 1-5 g per person were effective against Ascaris and gave substantial egg count reductions against hookworm" but the text does not have enough details on amount of days and dosage.

Let me know if the math is wrong.
Anyone else have taken a higher dose of Fenbendazole?
I'll be using it to fight resistant giardia (I got a recent diagnose with Giardia from the lab which makes the 3 Giardia test result in the last 8 years). I have tried most of the meds against giardia and I cannot try a lower dose of fenbendazole and make the bugs even more difficult to kill. I'm posting in this forum because you guys seem to have more experience with fenebendazole then the protozoa forum.

I also posted about this on the pptu.lefora.com forum.
