New Poster and 1.5 year sufferer of Scalp/Forehead folliculitis
Hello everyone.
First time poster, been creeping for the past couple days reading some posts.
I am here to learn and help teach and eventually beat this ( I want to swear right now but I wont) disease!
29 year old white male, "ok" diet, exercise a little, drinks socially doesnt smoke.
Been shaving my head since I was 23 and yes I know and LOVE my headblade. Unfortunately since I was diagnosed I havent been able to as I would probably end up in the ER.
I have been to 3 soon to be 4 dermatologists, side note: is it just the ones that I have been too or do they all just want to prescribe something and kick you out the door and NEVER return a call? Back on topic, I have had 2 biopsys both negative for fungus with gram negative AND gram positive on both biopsys. Culture was negative for anything.
Things I have been on (that I can remember there is so much in my bathroom closet right now)
Doxy, Mino, bactrim, keflex, cipro, 4 azithromyacin packs, clindamyacin oral and lotion, ketaconazole cream/lotion/oral, metro gel, PRID, tea tree oil, Zinc supplements, benzoyl peroxide, gold bond power (does help with the itchy feeling) plus I am guessing every
Acne treatment known to man, other than Proactive never tried that.
All the while normal medication side effects, nothing severe expect a breakout of erythema nodosum from Mino...that was amazing.
Long story short and thank anyone for reading all of this...I have right now a RX of Accutane at target right meow. I am scared shitless of taking it.
I honestly dont think it is what I need, and that may sound disrespectful but I dont mean it to be. People say to trust your gut feeling and I am doing just that.
I am seeing a new Derm this Tuesday and I am pretty much going to beg her to try something/anything else before I take the plunge.
I guess this doesnt really have a point but it did feel good to type it all out and I guess I am glad I found this site. Wish we met some other way though!!!!
Cheers all and thanks for reading!
Would appreciate any and all feedback
