Sounds like it behaves similar to Selenium when used as a Chelator. The Hg being a super oxidizer just alters the Se over time turning it into a detrimental form of Se.

Same could occur with Zeolite, where it holds onto Hg as long as it can until it's negative charge is depleted. If so that makes Zeolite the best NWO Aluminum delivery mechanism to date..
