Re: Get exact dose of Ivermectin horse paste?

Hi hope,

yes, I was actually taking my prazi in in gelatin capsules for some time and that indeed does help with the taste (though not totally) - a 600mg prazi tablet will fit perfectly in a size 00 capsule.

If I knew exactly what I was treating I don't think I'd be on this site! I am still waiting on more tests from doctor who has gone down in my estimates with this snail-pace of not a lot of progress. I suspect a co-infection of schistosomiasis and filariasis after working in the far east 9 years ago. This is based on my visceral-larva-migrans-like symptoms throughout that are very like filariasis symptoms (abdomen, eyes, groin, hands, feet), schisto symptoms like mucus/bloody stool, existing blood tests ruling out other things, and a lot of my own microscopy work (dirty big ventral suc***s on some magnified specimens that look like schisto and others on high magnification that are spitting images of filarae).

I think I have taken more than enough PZQ for the schisto for now. Ivermectin was effective for only the first 2 or 3 days in a long burst for me in making me feel good, and after that nothing, which makes me think it was just killing the microfilarae larvae and not the adults. I am now trying DEC (filariasis-specific drug) for the first time and it is AMAZING after first week of two week 6 mg/kg/day dose in combo with doxycycline, and my overall condition has improved SO much to the point of near-complete cure that I'm pretty sure some type of filariasis (there are hundreds of different species) has been my main problem (albendazole also effective for filariasis, which would explain its benefit, and I also took months of doxycycline over a year ago which helped and this would make sense too, but neither alone as good as the DEC).

Anyway, from how you describe your symptoms and reactions I don't think we have the same problem. You sounded like you responded to ivermectin alone much more than I did, so I don't think I can really help you much more than simply point you towards ICU protocols involving that drug. Never trust anyone on this site who tells you that what worked for them is the cure for ALL parasite infections as there are thousands of different types of the little b@stards all with different treatment regimens.

I also think you indeed are being extremely irrational in not seeing a gastro doctor at all. Go if just to give peace-of-mind to eliminate other possibilities (you might not have a parasite at all!) like ulcerative colitis or cancers etc. It is nonsense that an endoscope is likely to cause parasite scattering, and this is the NHS we are talking about so that will take MONTHS of waiting before an endoscope would happen anyway (and by putting off going you are just making that waiting list which you aren't even on even longer!). In the short-term you would only likely to get a few blood/stool tests and an ultrasound anyway.
