Have you had received a proper diagnosis from a doctor? I am not disagreeing that it may be a thyroid problem but the endocrine system is rather complicated. I think it would be good to get a firm diagnosis before you run off and try to resolve the problem. The problem might be due to some vitamin/mineral deficiency of some sort.

Secondly, take a good look at what you eat. Are you consuming macro-nutrients (fat, protein, carbs) in decent proportions? Most Americans consume over 3x the carbohydrates they should. Do you find yourself over consuming certain foods? This might actually point to a food allergy of some sort (..weird, but people seem to be drawn to foods they are allergic to). Many folks have recovered from all sorts of issues by the complete elimination of such food items as dairy and gluten (grains).
