There is HOPE!
It took almost two years after having the mirena removed, but my daughter is finally doing much better. The anxiety, panic attacks, migraines, vision problems, excruciating leg pain, neuropathy, numbness and burning in legs/feet/hands, hair loss, brain fog, memory loss, hives, itching, allergic reactions, muscle weakness, bone pain, jaw pain, fatigue, dizziness, irritability etc are all so much better or gone. She still occasionally has a few lingering symptoms and she continues to take Lyrica for her nerve pain and numbness/burning in hands and feet. She also take allergy meds/mast cell stabilizers ex oral ketotifen (we get from Canada) for her immune system that went haywire when she had the mirena and both meds help for lingering fibromyalgia symptoms. We finally did discover that she was also severely vitamin d deficient also which I had read about on this site and was often reported by post mirena sufferers. The Doctor didn't think she needed the vitamin D test, so when it came back she was deficient and it can cause a lot of her symptoms, he said 'we may be on to something here' and I really tried hard not to gloat. He had pretty much decided we were both crazy. She was given 50,000 IU prescription vitamin d pills twice a week and that's when I noticed her improving the most. In the last six months she has went from barely being able to walk or function (after having the mirena two years) to now running 5k's and training for a half marathon. Talk about progress. She also started seeing a chiropractor during that time and had acupuncture for several months which helped get some of the feeling back in her feet. It really is a miracle and I never thought the day would come. I think the exercise has also helped a lot in her recovery but for a long time she could barely get out of bed. There were days that I really just couldn't stand to see her suffer for one more second. She was always in pain, hysterical, anxious and none of the doctors would listen to us. It took its toll on us that's for sure. She was tested for everything and we are grateful she didn't have MS or all the other things they thought she had. It was all because of Mirena. It was so frustrating but I want to tell everyone that it does get better. Boy there were some dark days for us and I wondered sometimes if it would ever end. But I can say now that even though her health isn't perfect and there are lingering issues some days, she is back to herself and focusing on being a great mom and teacher. For those of you who wonder if it will ever end, it will, you just have to keep fighting and do whatever you can to push forward. Please feel free to ask me any questions. It's been a long road and I think about you all often and all the new women going thru it too. There is hope! Hang in there everyone and best wishes, hope this information helps someone
