Re: Medicene at gunpoint...

I have a herniated disc and one other damaged disc and i am really hip to this game.
the chiropractor is the only person who gave me any useful advice or treatment, but the insurance company has just stopped paying for those treatments. also, they will not pay for acupuncture.
they are, however, eager to pay the twenty five thousand dollars it would cost to give me surgery to remove the disc.
they are also more than willing to pay the thousands it would take to give me injections of steroids in my spine. (!!)
till now they are very happy to pay for all of the drugs that the doctors might want to push on me, and i was advised by the chiropractor to take and fill those prescriptions in order to prove to the insurance company that i am actually disabled and i am complying with my treatment plan.
this is necessary because the insurance company does not accept the chriopractor's diagnosis or assessment because he is not an MD. (I just take those drugs and flush them down the toilet)
for insurance purposes, (because i was not going to have the surgery), i worked myself up the food chain of doctors to get their opinions. they all said i must have that surgery, until i got to the last one, the neurosurgeon. he told me that i am getting better, that i have a really bad case but it is mending itself, and he would not do the surgery and would not recommend or approve of me having it. of course, i was so happy. i went back to the first doctor and told him the story. about how all the doctors said i must have the surgery. he was nodding his head through that part. when i told him about what the neurosurgeon said, he became absolutely enraged and told me that "he doesn't know what the hell he is talking about" and he gave me the name of a colleague who "one hundred percent sure will do it", and I have to "stop f@@king around because i am not getting better and i am not going to get better"
it is really scary because if i didn't have the chiropractor and access to this forum, i might have believed some of that nonsense. i am sure a lot of people do. according to the neurosurgeon, people come into his office insisting that they receive the surgery and they become very angry with him when he feels that surgery is not necessary.
herniated discs get better on their own more often than not and I shudder to think about the kind of pressure placed on people by the medical establishment when they have conditions which get chronically worse instead of better like i am. it must be hell, like for those poor parents who are forced to submit their children to barbaric treatments.
PS no one told me what the chiropractor told me, that once the disc is gone then the other discs will have to take the pressure and that eventually i will need to have other discs removed. this is a logical conclusion but no other doctor would even discuss it. they also never tell you that 96 percent of people get better without surgery if they give themselves time, or that 70 pecent of people have problems after having the disc surgery. but if i submitted to becoming a cripple so that these people could make some money, they would not have taken any responsibility for that, would they? I don't think so.

PS once again, thank God for B F and C!
