Re: Reducing Stress / Managing Depression
I'm happy that you are benefiting from that method!
Unfortunately some people are not very good at self-evaluation.
When my mother is stressed out she does not realize how how disruptive her actions are to family peace. She gets very defensive when we mention it to her.
With the help of her long-time chiropractor we were able to get her to take some supplements--at least on most days.
However the key seems to be for her to take them early in the morning! They seem to help her to stay reasonably calm but are not enough to settle her down once things are out of control.
The supplements include magnesium citrate, 5mg lithium, GABA, multi B, multi-vitamin, fish oil, pregnenolone, vitamin C, etc.
The woman I am seeing has a history of PTSD. A Spect brain scan indicated that when she is under stress her prefrontal cortex--executive functions, organization, etc--decreases in activity!
Therefore it is difficult for her to execute her stress response plan! I even had a hard time getting her to take a GABA Calm pill that she carried with her and which tends to take the edge off.
Fortunately adrenal support--pregnenolone, a little Hydrocortisone medication, etc has kicked in nicely and makes it easier for her to function in stressful situations. It is far from perfect but we are grateful for the help!
Good luck to you.
Joe
