What they do is take real stuff and report it. It's just HOW they report it. They do it from a point of view to make people feel powerless...subtle conditioning to just accept it all. It also serves a purpose of data mining to see who frequents the sites.
There is also some diversion tactics. Example of this is how all the sites are reporting the Bilderberg meetings in Canada while the biggest event for mass communication is being regulated and dramatically changed. The internet is under siege.
