Re: Cheesus: not very helpful
This is a response to both posters.
I am curious if you are both rejecting scientific, peer-review journal articles, in addition to rejecting the knowledge and experience of Dr Mercola? If so, I am curious to know why you think that information is irrelevant or, worse, 'fake'?
My post was motivated by this statement:
"The ONLY thing that helps with mercury poisoning besides death are CHELATORS - DMPS and DMSA (and ALA *much later*). Every thing else anyone recommends to you is just as helpful as praying."
I was merely demonstrating that scientists and doctors (yes, alternative doctors and not just those you seem to find so disdainful) would oppose this statement. I believe that the above statement is misinformation and dangerous to people's health. Correct knowledge is a precursor to all successful action. One person's experience is not equal to the knowledge and research put forward by scientists and doctors. I quoted those scientists and doctors in order to demonstrate alternative approaches. I do not wish to discount DMSA or DMPS at all, as the overwhelming evidence would suggest that they are extremely helpful. I wish only to discount the explicit statement that this is the only way.
I am surprised there has been such hostility towards me given that CuteLion's initial response was to ply a 'one-size-fits-all' approach to healing based solely on his/her personal experience, rather than on a breadth of resources and information. I am shocked that anyone on this forum believes there is any one single route to health. I was under the impression that this forum promotes a holistic and integrative approach to healthcare.
It does not concern me too greatly that neither of you agree with me. What is important to me is that an argument against a 'one-size-fits-all' approach has been presented, so that when people who have done less research come to this post they will see that CuteLion's statement likely reaches too far in its assertions.
EDIT:
Also, my apologies if you assumed my answer was to thus do nothing. If you had followed those links you would have seen that I was implying that one should aim to boost glutathione production as an alternative means to reduce a mercury burden. Again, though, that is only based on the experience of scientists and doctors.
This is not 'just my humble opinion'. This is an expression of information as supplied by scientific research and medical experience as quoted in my initial post.
