Re: Help! Need suggestions for tapering off glandulars!
I have found magnesium malate to be good. I'm on 800mg...taken before bed. If anything, since being on it im less jittery in the morning.
I'm also on zinc orotate at night too so not sure how much the combo of zinc and magnesium helps to calm.
I understand the leg pains and cramps - have you tried a magnesium bath? I use magnesium flakes and weekly take baths..helps so much.
I still suffer with restless legs at night sometimes despite all the magnesium i'm on - it's like a deep ache travelling down the leg and makes my foot involuntarily flick. Keeps me awake for an hour or 2 sometimes.
I too can't drive at the moment...never before have i ever suffered car sickness, nausea, such ANS dysregulation that makes driving impossible - i used to love driving before these imbalances.
I order supps online as i'm not so mobile- best price than the local health food store who charge twice as much.
With the B12 i am finding them really good - they give me energy...less brain-fog. I'm on liquid hydroxy and adenosyl (cobalamin) B12, and sublingual methylcobalamin. The gene test indicated high tolerance of hydroxy and adenosyl, with less tolerance for methyl so i take less of that. My boyfriend's genetics is no tolerance of methyl B12 at all...he's noticed a difference with the other B12's.
The methylfolate i'm on teeny weeny dosages. As it'll get the methylation pathway working again i don't want to go overboard with releasing years long storage of metals etc.. I'm on MCG instead of MG. I am building up very slowly to 1mg. Some start off on prescription 5mg!!! The herx is hard to take and what with other symptoms...im just wanting to do it very slowly.
I've read some people do really well...but then hit a wall of herxing...or some do really well off the bat and continue to improve, while others get worse. I think it all depends on how backed up the methylation system is...what other imbalances the person has etc.
I hope you find relief on the protocol, many on phoenix rising forum are doing the MTHFR protocol and there's loads more helpful info on it there:
