Re: Any Breast Cancer Survivors Taking Iodine, Need Input
TrekkiMom,
I'm from
Breast Cancer Choices and have had
Breast Cancer but I didn't have chemotherapy or radiation so I can't speak to the toxicities from personal experience.
However, since I've seen many women take
Iodine even while taking chemo, I've never heard any of them complain about detox. I'd think your mom could begin raising her
Iodine dosage immediately. Some
Iodine literate docs prescribe hundreds of mgs to cancer patients.
It's a very good sign that your mother had a history of thyroid disease that iodine has already helped. If she had one iodine deficiency-related condition (goiter), the chances are that her overall breast future falls into the same category. The thyroid, breasts and ovaries all have a tendency to swell, get cysts, nodules and fibrosis which may progress to cancer. This suggests, if iodine can slow down or arrest disease progression in one iodine-dependent organ, it can do the same in the others. The many testimonials support this observation.
If you can arrest or reverse this progression your mom has made huge progess in addressing an underlying cause-- a reason to be hopeful.
Hang in there and stay in touch!
