Re: Colostrum for candida and parasites?
See, this the problem with yeast infection. Folks are always worried about "feeding" yeasts, or "killing" yeasts, or "building" good bacterium levels. These are rather simplistic views of the milleau of the digestive tract, especially the duodenum, where the bulk of the immune system resides in the gut.
A high grade colostrum (unfortunately many grades are cheap and inferior) will have an excellent effect on LGS, colostrum helps repair the lining of the small intestine and helps to significantly boost sIgA like nothing else I know. Repairing the leaky small bowel membrane is one of the most important features of a successful candida protocol, but more importantly than this - boosting the digestive immune power even more so. You have more killing power with higher sIgA levels, and most all stool test reports I see with a significant candida load (cultured and macroscopic) show low to very low IgA levels.
The tiny amount of lactose you are likely to encounter have an insignificant effect when compared to the immune-enhancing properties of high-grade colostrum. Once you have used it significantly like I have with candida, you begin to see its merits.
If we constantly worry about "feeding" yeasts, out diet would be down to a handful of items as well, and we would need to concern ourselves considerably with every aspect of our diet. It is important therefore to look at the big picture, and boost our immunity up to a very high level.
A good quality colostrum will contain a significant cytokine profile besides lactoferrin, until recently, the presence of cytokines in colostrum was unsuspected but it has been now clarified that there are in fact at least four cytokines in colostrum: IL-1 followed by IL-2 (determined as being part of the colostral factors that stimulate resistance to infections) IL-6, tissue necrosis factor (TNF) and biologically active gamma interferon (thought to immunostimulate the oropharyngeal and intestinal lymphoid tissues) contribute to the development and maturation of the immune system.
Other factors, like Transforming Growth Factor Beta (TGFß) are present in colostrum as well. This stuff certainly packs a punch. Jorge, I certainly agree that a high lactoferrin containing colostrum (in small amounts) would be a wise choice for those with candida, but one would be wise to go slow and take small amounts to begin with.
Lactoferrin is one of my favorite of the natural medicines I use with H/pylori, it works very well here, I give 1000mg/day on an empty stomach.
