That's interesting about the Wild Turkeys, I wondered how the sang was spread in so many small patches. They are plentiful around here, the area behind my place is too steep and rugged for all but the most intrepid hunters.
I looked in one of my herbal catalogs and noticed they sold powdered American Gensing for $85.00 a pound. I would love to find some fresh just to keep up the old family tradition. It was broken when my dad moved to the city for a high paying job. Most of his children returned to the land and live a much simpler life. If I should ever be blessed by getting a fresh root, what would be the best way to handle and preserve it? (I promise not to "nuke" it)
