Nobody consumes elemental Iodine orally. It is always present as Iodide ion, or in the case of Lugol solution, the tri-iodide ion.

Toxic substances have an LD-50 value associated with them, which is the amount administered to a small population of test subjects that causes 50% of the test subjects to die.

Where's can one find in bona fide literature, the LD-50 for Iodide and tri-iodide for humans ??

We searched and searched but were unable to find even a single case of death by Iodine anywhere. It is the opposite that is true: lack of iodine is a cause of a myriad of health problems.
