Re: Mayo Clinic
HI onedaysoon,
It's a large saliva sample they take. Expediated return postage and paperwork is included etc...even international which i was quite impressed with (altho the postage for me cost more than the test!)
Like i said - they give indicative health lab reports based on genetic 'markers' you have - like being predisposed to diabetes or lymphoma - and which genes inidcate that POSSIBILITY.
Something i wouldn't advise for the hypochondriac as those results could really cause unnecessary stress IMO...they should be seen as a guide rather than factual health destiny.
You are able to access the 'raw data' of your genes which is what i have been using to research methylation and detox mutations. A couple of websites online actually use the 23andme raw data file (which you can download from your online account with 23andme) and will convert it to an 'easier to read and understand' format.
Also lots of info on genetic ancestry which is intriguing.
They have a forum on there that is very active.
They don't give a protocol as such to follow. For that kind of guidance you'd need to pay around a grand to a nutritional genetic counsellor. That also would be worth doing if genetics is a subject which you'll never wrap your head around - or don't have the time to do the research.
It's an emerging nutritional approach to health conditions that's pioneered currently by the few yet those few are making progress that the masses in the conventional nutritional field have failed to help. So it's worth considering if diet and supplements have failed you so far.
