because if you tax carbon you WILL be taxing Mercury! As I have explained many times now. Why? Because by far and away the number one source of mercury pollution in the world is coal-fired power plants, which also happen to be the number one emitter of CO2

But By taxing carbon (instead of just taxing Mercury) you will also be taxing sulfur dioxide and all kinds of other horrible toxins

So it's pretty awesome all the way around
