If you are referring to the yolk, it was only after being cooked that it was obvious. The yolk busted in the pan and was visibly inconsistent as well as having a definite odor.

Always check eggs for odors, cloudiness, discoloration, or being extremely runny.

Birds and reptiles always have salmonella in their digestive system so that cleanliness is very important.

As a case in point, fertilizer from chicken manure that has not been properly cured carries a risk of causing salmonella poison from fresh vegetables, especially organically produced.
