Re: Adrenal Fatigue and Mental Illness (Quick Poll)
As snobetty said - it's extremely important with all health issues to be open to all possibilities of causality.
It can be dangerous territory to say AF is caused by X - and that is caused by Y - 'excellent - i'll treat x and y and will be cured'.
One can easily end up falling flat on their face wondering what went wrong.
It is possible to be born with AF - the human body is extremely amazing at coping and accomodating deficits within it's functioning. That is why many SSRI's etc don't alleviate symptoms in many people due to the brain realising it's synapses are being messed with by the drug so will 're-route' those messages another way.
I've read endless accounts from folk who don't mention having AF but they had crippling anxiety for years and chelated, or detoxed, or did
Liver Cleanses and the anxiety became a fading memory.
Equally people who did some EFT or psych-K and were able to shift alot of stagnant beliefs that were holding them back causing their anxiety.
These methods of healing work for some but not all - we have to try many routes - preferably have a selection of tools we use, mental, nutritional, lifestyle etc directed in order to heal fully.
Coming from a family of psychological 'advocates' i easily assumed all my health problems were in the mind only. After years of 'mind work' and no improvements, i continued functioning fully, active and confident in every sphere of life, only to eventually become really ill. I've had to embrace the possibility there are other causes at work too...and have subsequently discovered there are.
Pointing at one causality, narrowing ones field of view - it's something i could never do again. It can never be assumed what's the cause - it's normally a complex array of many causalities.
If only life was so simple eh!
Blaming ones mind for being 'wired wrong' as the ONLY cause of all illness...well, it's created a multi-billion dollar industry obsessed with 'labels' - not much dislike the pharmaceutical industry with it's array of drugs. I don't see either industry at being very successful in CURING what ails most...psychology and medications at best allow people to 'manage' their illnesses.
(Just like one very well known 'anti-anxiety guru' claims that one should put all their awful experiences, memories, etc in a pile in the corner and throw as much stuff on it to cover it all up - i kid you not - i was astounded at their obvious ignorance that suppression doesn't heal - it hides illness) his method, if it can be called that, is 'managing' anxiety not curing it - but he'll sell it as a cure so you can 'manage'...(and ultimately feel resentment that you've been cheated by yet another modern-day psychological-health guru)
Successful healthFULLness of people show that expression of one's true self and purging/elimination of psychological AND physical blockages/toxins is a path that can lead to cure.
Anyone finds a short-cut - let me know!
