I agree with Daniel. I believe there is a reason the lips are doing this - to stabilize and heal the lips until they are back to a normal state. My dermatologist said to try and keep the skin on for as long as possible. Since we're keeping it moisturized, this shouldn't be a problem (mine are so thin that it looks like normal lips - that is until they are on for about two weeks and they start peeling - what starts happening is the outer edges of the scabs become white, but they remain on the lip). As Daniel said, once it is ready to fall off, or does so accidentally, it shouldn't hurt or cause trauma because the lips are constantly moist.

While keeping things moisturized, you're letting the lips do their thing and you can live a practically normal life. I still drink out of a straw just in case and I'm extra cautious when eating.
