New to this...condition..can I have my card and t-shirt?

Hi forum,
I've been here lurking for a few weeks now. After the holiday's 'it' started. I have been to 2 doctors and instead of 3 little yellow crusty spots it spread because the Vaseline my derm said to apply literally was so thick it tore the scabs off. I nearly cried in frustration. My GP said it was impetigo.( really?) It isn't. I stopped the bactriban after a day because I think was too irritating. The thing is, I did not have OCD until this started. It is constantly on my mind. Heavy sigh! So to add to the data, my symptoms... Peeling/weakness/dryness at vermillion border. That seems to be origin point. How to heal that? No clue. Contact with liquid causes lips to go white and peel. Flakes turn yellow if I leave them.I tried leaving my lips alone in beginning, truly, but I accidentally tore them eating. All the trauma I caused was accidental trying in vain to moisturize. I did go frantic one day and flipped out and bit into an apple. Not smart.
First sign was the whole shower scenario with melted soggy white skin on lips. I stopped that toothpaste right away. I didn't rip the skin but I probably worsened thinking it was fungal and tried antifungal cream.
It so sucks because I have such a clear before and after. I have pictures from a month ago easy smiles. When this started I was sick with flu, on Antibiotics , very stressed, may have unconsciously bit lip driving in snow, Also, I'm thin/ underweight?

I am going back to derm Monday. Am I wasting my time or should I keep doctors in loop? I believe they think I'm mental. Posting from my phone so forgive my lack of paragraphs.
Thank you all for sharing, it is supportive to see some things are working and making this manageable! I have full-time job so if I'm not super active, I will inform you all with the positive improvements and well being I discover.
