Yeah, sure. You believe waaaaay too much strange stuff, too much credulity... :)

As for the rest, it's hard enough even for a skilled doctor (or dentist) to give an accurate diagnosis, since it's next to impossible to see what's going on UNDER your teeth without surgery. For example, forget x-ray, this will detect issues only in the last stages of (bone) decay. On the other hand, no doctor is going to say "let's cut it open and have a look" without a VERY good reason.

So, expect even LESS help from this forum, as far as most of your questions are concerned. It will be a gamble and it will be YOUR gamble - YOUR decisions, and you will have to make them based on very, VERY little information. That's how it is, that is LIFE. sometimes it sucks and you got the fail card instead of an ace. Go with what you feel you should do, you can judge best, even better than your doctor, what your condition is.

About people not having much trouble with Amalgam (now) - there is that, sure, BUT you also have to know that on the cellular level damage ACCUMULATES over the decades. As some doctor described it, the mercury ions are not dormant inside the cell. Cells constantly produce things, molecules like proteins. The mercury ions take the place of something else that's supposed to go there. Once those molecules get broken down they are freed again and get entangled somewhere else. So the molecules the cell produces are a little "off" and don't 100% do what they are supposed to do to varying degrees. The damage this causes accumulates, and with age your body cells repair mechanisms have more to do anyway, and are less efficient than when you are young.

As you can see, it is very hard for todays scientists to judge which effects can be attributed to mercury, since this mechanism works over DECADES. But you can be sure it's not good. So the question will be, how will your father feel at 70? I've no doubt some people with Amalgam will have no great issues when they are 80. Problem is, if you wait to find out if you are one of them, and find that you are not, it will be too late. See - another gamble, life's full of 'em...

Tell you what, do try that DMPS source you mentioned, and make the first use a DMPS test (you'll find enough on the web about this. Get LAB results for how much mercury there is in your urine after DMPS. You can find discussions about that particular source of DMPS on the Internet too, just ask Google very nicely.
