You have to also consider that the produce we get today is not usually fresh, was picked green, and may not have been grown in rich soil (very likely). Hence the produce we have available to us is highly inferior to the produce you could get if you were growing it all in your own garden in composted soil, picking it when ripe, and eating it fresh. I agree that you should do both. I will created a green juice (I always add apple or carrots to sweeten it and make it palatable) and then pop it in the blender and add some solid greens (kale) and blueberries, or somesuch. I don't juice berries, I blend them up with my juice in a smoothie. It's quite satisfying!
