Removal is really painless. Insertion was terrible, but it's quick and painless for them to pull it out in most cases. Exception would be if it got embedded in the uterine wall, or if it poked thru and is floating in your body somewhere. But since you haven't mentioned pain or bleeding, I wouldn't think that would be the case. If I remember right (it's been 4.5 yrs since removal for me), it hurt less than a pap smear. You didn't mention any side effects like anxiety or joint pain, so you might be lucky and not have the crashes that many of us here have. If money is an issue, many women have said they've gone to planned paretnhood, maybe that would be a cheaper option. Some have even removed it themselves, but you'd want to be careful and read up on it before trying that. Many women here have had bad Acne from Mirena. I had it to a smaller extent and it went away after removal. My skin is now as good as it's ever been, with an occasional little breakout every few months.
