Re: Are cold sores a candida die off symptom?
I know how you feel! It does make you feel so self conscious, but lots of people carry this virus, they may not even know it. So your not on your own.
The only thing that really struck me in your post was when you mentioned coconut. L-Arginine is found in nuts and in chocolate, and the virus cannot survive without it. Our bodies also manufacture their own supply of this amino acid. By avoiding nuts a chocolate, you can lower the level L-Arginine in your system, thus lowering the fuel the virus needs to survive. Your right in taking Lysine because this also balances L-Arginine and makes an less comfortable environment for the virus to thrive.
Stress and menstruation can trigger cold sores, so be good to yourself and don't let your worries run wild. I always try to look at this sort of things as a reminder that I need to chill! Its a good time to listen to what your body is trying to tell you.
But I think between stress level and good nutrition, you can keep things at bay. Lemon Balm is very soothing to use topically. If you can come across some of the fresh plant, pick some. I sometimes take a leaf and crush it, and place it on the sore, you'll notice how soothing it can be right away. I believe there are cream made with it now for that reason. Also Manuka honey is supposed to be a good topical application, though I haven't tried it. Someone else in this post mentioned Bitter Melon, which I also haven't tried but it sounds like it works amazing...
