Can viruses be killed?

A possible client just hung up on me after I made the statement that nothing can kill a virus. He did so without giving me a chance to explain. Nothing can kill them because they are not living organisms. If you think I'm crazy then read on to see what this site has to say:

Let’s first define life. According to the online Merriam-Webster Dictionary, life is “an organismic state characterized by capacity for metabolism, growth, reaction to stimuli, and reproduction.”

Viruses are not living things. Viruses are complicated assemblies of molecules, including proteins, nucleic acids, lipids, and carbohydrates, but on their own they can do nothing until they enter a living cell. Without cells, viruses would not be able to multiply. Therefore, viruses are not living things.

When a virus encounters a cell, a series of chemical reactions occur that lead to the production of new viruses. These steps are completely passive, that is, they are predefined by the nature of the molecules that comprise the virus particle. Viruses don’t actually ‘do’ anything. Often scientists and non-scientists alike ascribe actions to viruses such as employing, displaying, destroying, evading, exploiting, and so on. These terms are incorrect because viruses are passive, completely at the mercy of their environment.

I think the caller had AIDS and of course was very vested in the idea that use of alternative medicine could "kill" HIV in his body. Although we can't literally kill HIV we can disable them so the bodies own immune system can gradually remove them all from the body. Colloidal Silver has been proven in the laboratory to be effective against all microbes but to get enough concentration to do so in the body means you have to have enough of it to be problematic for your general health as well as to the microbes. Best to use low frequency (<100Hz) alternating current in the blood stream at an amount of current too low to even feel (.14mA). That has proven successful at disabling viruses from being able to infect human cells to hijack their system in order to have copies of itself made. No prolonged destructive side effects result from that either. It is the "medicine" of the past and of the future.
