Re: According to the dentist my son has six cavities. What should I do?
Certainly would not hurt to get a second opinion, even a third. Take it from someone who has been totally screwed up by dentist. Wish I had of checked around more when I was 20.
That is the best advice you could have given that poster.
I too suspect the dentist who was recommended by an inlaw. He kept finding teeth that needed to have root canals, and always sent me to the same root canal dentist. Never had a cavity until I was 18, in the Marine Corps. Then by 25, or 26 when seeing this dentist for cleanings I had 4 root canals.
Just remember dentist don't get paid as much to tell you your teeth are okay, as they do for putting amalgam in 7 teeth. To be fair, not all dentists are like this, but there are scumbags out there just like there are in any other profession.
Do your kid, and yourself a favor, and take the advice to get other opinions. Cheaper for both in the long run.
