20 yr old w/Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome(PCOS)
Hi Tony (Happy Birthday!) and Luella;
I have a 20 year old daughter, Katelynn, with Chronic Lyme disease, which causes much distress in her system, but now she has developed all the symptoms of Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). Symptoms include: scalp hair loss, body hair increasing and darker, missed menstrual cycles, swelling, bloating, and weight gain, skin tags, acne and oily skin, vision problems, chronic insomnia, chronic fatigue, etc. Along with the symptoms of neuroborreliosis during flares, she is one unhappy camper. She is a junior at Texas A&M, (Gig 'Em, Johnny!) and runs to the campus clinic for help...which I do not agree with...but I cannot blame her. I have always treated her with alternative remedies, including herbal, homeopathic, acupuncture, dietary restrictions, vitamin/mineral supplementation, etc., and the very few times she has been prodded into taking birth control pills, antibiotics, or migraine meds, she has had bad reactions and probably has systemic candida as a result. I live 3 hours away, and I try to keep her away from the conventional "poisons", but it is not an easy task.
During the night she woke up with strep-like symptoms and went to work this morning anyway, having made an appointment at the clinic. She was negative for strep, but the doctor read her history of visits with upper respiratory complaints and throat infections, and he told her an underlying infection was continuing to surface. With Lyme disease and Texas doctors who either ridicule the thought, or back off out of fear of the unknown, you find yourself in a no-win situation more often than not. Katelynn is aware of the lack of help she will receive...especially when she tells them, "No fluoroquinolones and no steroids!"
She will get over the infection with homeopathics and herbal remedies, but she is now thinking she HAS to take birth control pills to help with the PCOS symptoms, and wants to see the doctors in the Womens' Health Clinic. I have a hard time convincing her otherwise when she makes up her mind, and I sent her threads from Earth Clinic that deal with PCOS and the natural remedies that have helped so many women after years of zero help with conventional medicine. She is choosing to go with the chat groupies who took the pill to help with symptoms...at least until I convince her otherwise. Sooooo...that is my dilema, and I am praying you might know of an alternative remedy, or remedies, that have been proven to help with the symptoms of PCOS and to help reverse it. Even a referral to someone who would be able to help us would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you for your dedication to helping all of us find our way out of the "system" and into the "Light". I hope you are doing well, and I hope you will have a Very Merry Christmas! And again, Tony, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!
With big hugs and many blessings,
Molly in Burnet, TX
