Something I've noticed about colds, any suggestions?
Ok, so it's really cold out, uncomfortable cold. I live alone, so I like to keep my heat turned off to save on electric bill (Like many older folk on fixed income). So I sit in my cold apt. covered in a cozy and really warm fleece robe.
It's cold in
my apt. but I'm feeling somewhat warm with the robe, only my feet, ankles, hands and face are cold. I'm feeling well, not sick no colds coming on. Then I decide that I'm going to turn some heat on after awhile just to make it a tad more cozy.
Soon after I turn the heat on, I feel a cold coming on. I'm getting stuffy and nose is itching. I turn the heat back off almost immediately when I'm feeling sinus stuffy. As soon as the room gets back cold, I'm feeling better and the sinus congestion is starting to clear.
I understand that colds can be contagious, but with me living alone, I think poor ventilation, the moisture from the warm heating and the extreme drop/rise in temperatures contribute to colds. Many of you probably already know this, but it seems to me when it's cold outside and I keep it cold inside, avoiding extreme in temperatures keeps me from getting sick.
Any take?
