Urgent MH can you respond to this please.
I have a friend who was on antidepressants for 10 years and slowly weaned off of them. She thought things were going good until her gut is not working, she can not eat or digest food. She is not feeling there is much hope left for her....
Originally going back on a very small dose had been suggested to allow her to stablize and withdrawal even slower...but that is not an option her body is rejecting it and it has caused severe suicidal thoughts, and worse nausia.
The docs have diagnosed her problem as effexor withdrawal. Basically they said they have no relief to offer her. They have tested time and again and ruled out everything else before this diagnosis was made.
The withdrawal has done something to her gut, to the point where 'nothing' wants to go down, and when it does, she suffers in other ways......
She knows now that the drugs were never a solution...thus the reason she weaned off. So no need for info on how drugs aren't a solution...just need info on what to do now.
Come on guys...I know you all are the greatest and can help. Any suggestions? Or any ideas what forum I should present this too so that others who may have some knowledge might help?
Thanks,
Darlene
