Related to your question above; if psysical or spiritual; what I believe is that Iodine has an effect both on the physical and the spiritual body of ours. The fluoridation issue is important, as it make our "third eye" / pineal gland calcify. With this we dont have the access to use the immense power that lies in that gland or chakra. It is the power of "knowing / seeing" What I have noticed lately about my sixth chakra (forehead, pineal gland) is that it is as if it is opening up more than before, physically it feels like a whirling energy trying to get in, or out.
