Re: Bowel Obstruction caused by roundworm/whipworm

Wow, your story sounds so familiar! Scary. I have been dealing with a very similar sort of situation. My problem started 12 years ago when I had emergency small bowel obstruction surgery! No mention was made at the time of me having worms but now I wonder???? After this time I was completly without abdominal pain for 12 years then suddenly I developed bloating, cramping, gas pains and all the symptoms of a small bowel obstruction again. CT scan showed a narrowing in the area of the previous surgery so I was therefore treated for adhesions and scaring which was causing an obstruction. I delt with this for 2 years. Intermitten obstruction to the point of vomiting all night, going to the ER for decompression of my GI. Surgery was said to be a last resort due to the high risk. As a last resort I went to see a Naturapathic Doctor in Boulder co. She had me send in a stool sample. Low and behold it was full of worms. I have taken Ivermetin. Since the first dose one month ago I have been free of abdominal pain for the first time in 2 years. I am also doing the preventive diatacous earth. I am scheduled for a second round of Invermetin in one month to kill any eggs that may have hatched. I believe this is the root of my problem and that I will be well from here on out. When I feel my intestines "rolling" in the future I will go straight for the deworming routine. It feels so good to feel good. Years of this have taken its toll on my system. I am chroniclly very anemic, iron depletion, vitamin depletion, could not absorb fats, digestive enzymes were screwed up in the pancreas and liver so they were probably living in those organs as well. Amazing that in this day of age worms can still fool modern medicines best doctors.
