What I mean by "too stimulating" is that when I eat more than 1/2 c. cooked brown rice I get very stimulated as if I have eaten a candy bar. I have a pretty severe case of adrenal fatigue, so my body does not respond to most foods normally. Example, brown rice will make me feel like I'm on a Sugar high, but 4 oz of apple juice will make me feel like I want to pass out.
I avoid all beans due to their high potassium levels. My sodium/potassium ratio is very imbalanced and high potassium foods send me through the roof.
I have been looking more into ayurveda and its concepts. I believe that chronic illness really does take multiple approaches to overcome, and one should never be closed minded about exploring new methods.
