Re: Cannabis and Adrenal Fatigue / Chronic Illness / Pain

It is more gentle than oxycontin or benzos,..

I don't know how I would have been able to survive and sleep through my AF recovery without cannabis. It was very helpful in getting to sleep (indica strains) and in easing the fibromyalgia pain (I recommend Golden Goat as a great daytime strain... with both energizing and painkilling properties).

Here is my feelings on it:

Cannabis acts on the body as both a stimulant and adaptogen (but a fairly benign one). As such, it's best not to get habituated to it... and coming off of it after being stoned for days can make you "cranky" (low neurotransimtter state) and indirectly cause crashes.

Cannabis is not as gentle on the body as vitamins and other herbs... but more gentle than taking sleeping pills and painkillers. It is not ideal to blaze up on it chronically, as you need to be able to fully recognize how you feel in order to heal... so use it when you are really feeling pain and sleep... and try to wean off it.

In my AF recovery I went from having to smoking 5 times a day for pain and sleep probms... to not needed it at all, except after crashes, over the course of several months. My symptoms went down and I tapered my cannabis down as a responsible "medicinal" use - not as a habit / drug of abuse.

Hope this perspective helps!

p.s. Kratom is even more of a stimulant and much harder on the body than cannabis, in my opinion. Also the Thai, where it is indigenous, think it is nasty stuff. Also full on addictive. Use with caution - only as needed for severe pain!

To wean off cannabis or Kava, try kava... hard on the body and liver (slightly) but can intermediately help break the misery of breaking a habit... get you off something you are kinda hooked on.
