We have then two types "mind over matter" situations.
-Placebo effect doesnt last more than maximum 2-3 weeks. This is tested over and over, a scientific fact, if anyone care.

-Usually it last just a day or two.
At the forum; With Iodine it is like; yes!! I have energy for the first time in.. Then after a few days the ugly truth set in; one have to detox, handle emotions, fix our life etc, before Iodine can continue its splendid work.
This effect could be either placebo or a physical reaction or both.

I too have willed myself over many "illnesses"
-the talks I have with my body when I periodically try to kill myself with my 4 jobs should have been recorded, lol.

Synchronicity in general is undervalued IMO.
