I think iron plays a major roll. My iron levels are extremly high because of a gene defect, my body obsorbs double the iron of a regular person and does not get rid of ANY of it. The iron is then stored in all major organs and the intestines, causing major problems later in like if left unchecked. I'm lucky I found out young the treatment is blood draining 500ml to a litre a week until normal levels are restored.
