I recently suffered this very same problem with my terrible Asthma problem. My lungs were so clogged up with phlegm that I could not get enough air into my lungs. NOTHING I TRIED was able to loosen or rid the phlegm from my lungs.

The solution that started clearing my lungs within minutes was a big shot of steroid in the butt, and a 1 week prescription of Medrol steroid pills (Methylprednisolone)

I know you don't like doctors & drugs, but this stuff was a miracle that kept me out of the hospital. People have died from clogged up lungs. I was within hours of going to the emergency room for not being able to breath, and parts of my body were shutting down. I had lost control of my bladder.

BTW) I finally found out what was causing my terrible asthma downward spirals. It was the Farmers spraying their cotton fields with defoliants. This poison is carried by the breezes to everyone in the area !

I think that a lung peak capacity meter can help your mother manage her condition. When lung capacity drops to far, it is time for more medication.

Breathing through a glass of water helps to strengthen lung capacity.
