Re: 50,000,000 IC Nystatin powder/ Please advise!

I spoke today with the pharmacist who dispenses my Nystatin powder. He said that Nystatin powder comes in two different forms. One is very pure analytical grade, meaning pure enough for compounding for internal use.

The second form of powder is for topical use only. It has excipients in it that you wouldn't want to swallow. One common use is to compound it with a cream to put on skin. Or it can be compounded with other mediums, but it's still only for outside the body on the skin.

He also read to me the ingredients on the Nystatin oral suspension (liquid). What makes it sweet is sucralose, meaning at least it doesn't have Sugar or syrup in it, but it's 100,000 units, not 500,000,000. The two are far from equivalent in strength.

He also said the Nystatin for internal use made by Paddoc is very pure.
