Fungus, bacteria or viral?

I don't understand this.
About 7 years ago, at night, my mom (has emphysema) went into the hospital because she couldn't breath.
She was diagnosed with both viral and bacterial pneumonia and was on oxygen.
When I got there the next morning, I gave her 400 mg of Coq10 q-gel (double absorbable with vitamin e) the vitamin E total was 600 iu.
She went for an xray and when she got back, I gave her another 200 mg of Coq10 with 300 iu of vitamin e.
2 hours later, they removed the oxygen and sent her home and she was fine.

She just recently picked up some kind of lung infection while visiting a friend at a rehab/nursing home who had laryngitis.
She didn't have a fever or chills and she didn't have any body aches.
Her chest would burn when coughed and she coughed alot.
I upped her vitamin D and she seemed a little better, but she still had a pale yellow sputum from the lungs and chest burning when coughing.
I was giving her 16 drops lugol's 5% daily, but this didn't seem to do a thing.

Today, I decided to give her the coq10 as ubiquinol 400mg and vitamin E 800 iu because my q-gels were expired.
Within an hour, she was feeling much better and her oxygen went from 91 to 95.
2 hours later, I gave her another 200mg ubiquinol and 400 iu vitamin E.
Her sputum is nearly all white and milky with the slightest hue of yellow.

Could this be viral, fungal or bacterial?

And why isn't the iodine helping?
