the fungus you're referring to is called tinea versicolor~and sadly, no this is not what I have. My ex husband had that and got an anti fungal cream for it which I tried and had no effect. What's more, the dermatologist looked at it with a Wood's Lamp. It is definitely vitiligo. I'd be apt to think the melasma like formation on my upper lip is Tinea versicolor, for it appeared over night.
What I find really interesting is the vitiligo is and has been re pigmenting for years. I mean ten or more years. Recently and more importantly when I got the dark upper lip, that's when my vitiligo really picked up speed on re pigmenting. I can barely see the spot on my throat, but I think that is a good enough reason to get my thyroid checked.
