I do not know if you can put cold sores and HPV in same category, but they are both viruses. What I can say about Abreva is it quickly got rid of a cold sore on someone I know. Abreva is an over-the-counter medication my allergist recommended when I asked for a prescription for an anti-virus cream awhile back.
