Sometimes adequate tests that will tell you the exact pathology you are dealing with don't exist. They might show some co-infections like thrush, or others.
But, a clinical diagnosis is a different animal. It takes all of the knowledge that the doctor has, all of his experience with patients and it can be better. For instance Lilo, it was a clinical diagnosis. Now I know the dosage and frequency of application need work. But what else has worked that well? Grand Rounds, may be okay but usually they are learning experiences. The docs haven't seen these things before. At least that is what I see. I think the lower dose viral cream, will help lots of folks.
I hope so. I don't mean to dismiss dads who are doctors or anyone working hard on this, it is just my opinion.
